Mwenso and the Shakes
Museum of Fine Arts, Boston
465 Huntington Ave, Boston, Massachusetts 02115
are global artists whose music merges entertainment and artistry at the highest level. Hailing from Sierra Leone, London, South Africa, Greenwich Village, Madagascar, France, Jamaica, South Florida, and Hawaii, the Shakes now call Harlem their home. Michael Mwenso leads an electrifying show The New York Times calls “intense, prowling, and ebullient” as the troupe blends their formidable command of jazz and blues expression with the stylings of James Brown and other African American musical legends.
