Derick Crucius is a Philadelphia based independent filmmaker, artist, musician and BUFF alum. The themes in Derick‛s work tend to revolve around the outcasts of society. He is deeply interested by what is considered social norms and likes to expose the behavior of the unwanted. Other themes that are present in his films are the idea of isolation, loneliness, mental health, and the celebration of life and death. He also likes to combine analog with digital technology to showcase the stark contrast between the two. Dericks films tend to shift from transgressive humor to abstract while always remaining experimental, underground, and thought provoking.
His work has screened at multiple film festivals and cinemas around the world such as Cannes and The Blow-Up Chicago International art house film festival.
