It should be simple to challenge partisan gerrymandering, the redrawing of electoral districts for political gain. Gerrymandered districts resemble a “praying mantis” and “goofy kicking donald duck,” and have real implications for local, state, national politics, and the foundation of our democracy. But figuring out what to do about the issue has become as complex as the most difficult mathematical equation.

Enter Moon Duchin, Tufts University Associate Professor of Mathematics, Tisch Senior Fellow, Director of the Science, Technology, and Society Program, and Co-founder of the Metric Geometry and Gerrymandering Group. Professor Duchin will explore the phenomenon of gerrymandering, and how geometry can fight against it. Join the Tufts Social Impact Network and Tisch College for an evening where alumni go back to the classroom to learn more about this pressing issue.
