This workshop has sold out!
Presented by the NEMA Registrars and Collections Care Specialists (RACCS) Professional Affinity Group and the Concord Museum
What do you do when you find yourself with ten Victorian wedding dresses accessioned into the collection? How do you properly care for and store clothing on a budget? What are ways to utilize textiles when your institution can’t afford to host an exhibition?
This workshop seeks to help registrars, collections managers, curators, and museum staff members who fill multiple roles explore and develop real-world strategies for caring for and utilizing textiles in their collections. Join us for a full day of sessions on the basics of textile collection care and the practical aspects of making padded hangers, rolling flat textiles, and boxing fragile garments.
This workshop is part of the MassFashion Consortium and Fresh Goods: Shopping for Clothing in a New England Town, 1750-1900, an exhibition at the Concord Museum.
Major Foundation Support by the Coby Foundation.
Registration Fees: $25 NEMA Members; $45 Non-member
The workshop is limited to 40 participants.
