[note: this workshop is now full]
Join us in welcoming Jason Bige Burnett (Jason Bige Burnett Studio) and Sunshine Cobb to explore a range of surface treatments while sharing stories and their experiences as contemporary ceramic artists. Whether your work is functional or sculptural, this workshop will provide you with a chance to explore, experiment and learn. Participants will have the opportunity to try their hand at the various techniques covered in the workshop and receive feedback from other participants and the workshop leaders.
Jason Bige Burnett will lead discussions on how to establish a personal vocabulary to use in your work and demonstrate multiple surface treatment strategies. He will cover a range of techniques, including screen-printing transfers, paper resists, decals, and many other methods that allow for additive and subtractive layering.
Sunshine Cobb will demonstrate coil and pinch methods to hard and soft-slab construction to generate the various components she uses to construct her pots. She will speak to the building surface through the making process and discuss the unique glaze and surface treatment of her work which, often times, includes sand-blasting.
The cost for this workshop: Free for Harvard Undergraduate students; $50 for Harvard Graduate students; $125 for Adults enrolled in a course at the Ceramics Program; $200.00 for those not enrolled in a course.
