Thrift Story is back! We’ll be hosting our second event at Aeronaut Brewing Company in Somerville, MA. This time around, we’ll be collecting storied things YOU collected over the holidays — whether it’s a pair of sequin slippers you’ll never wear that you got for Christmas from your favorite grandma, a childhood toy you re-discovered while visiting home, or an item that puts you in that holiday mood! Remember, this should be an item you've had a hard time giving up. Its backstory doesn’t need to be long, and it doesn’t need to be groundbreaking. But it needs to be a story that got you to hold on to that item longer that you may have wanted. So come by, have a beer, get some stories, and share some stuff at Thrift Story!
THE FINE PRINT:
Thrift Story is a community storytelling event hosted seasonally. Think of it like a pop-up thrift store or yard sale but with a catch: all items come with their backstories attached to them.
All items are donated by members of the Boston-area community — along with their stories, handwritten on note cards — and are available to browse and purchase for a flat fee during the event!
Donations are limited to small items and clothing.
Please hand-write your stories on index cards and attach them to your item. We ask that all stories be true, as remembered by the storyteller, but encourage all to get creative (for example, you could tell the story from the perspective of the item you're donating)! We also ask that you don't include your name on the card, but you can include your age and/or your current city.
You can drop off your item during select dates at Aeronaut before the event, or schedule a pick-up. A donations box will be available at Aeronaut Wednesday January 10 through Thursday, January 11. To schedule a pick-up, please visit thriftstory.org or email us at [email protected]
