Every Monday is Marley Monday. Come hear some of Bob Marley's greatest hits performed by the best Marley tribute in all the land. The Duppy Conquerors! Every Monday at Sally O'Brien's located at 335 Somerville Ave., Somerville, Massachusetts

Bob Marley tribute band the Duppy Conquerors consist of some of Boston’s best Reggae musicians and were recently nominated for a Boston Music Awards. They are not a “Tribute Band” trying to look and dress like Bob Marley and the Wailers. They are musicians that respect the “sound and spirit” of Bob Marley and the Wailers. With nearly 3/4 of his repertoire under their belts, they are the quintessential Bob Marley tribute and by the way… The Wailers first performance in the United States was in 1973 at Paul's Mall & the Jazz Workshop in Boston.

The Duppy Conquerors had the pleasure of performing Marley’s album, originally released on the Island Records (Tuff Gong International/Universal) label, entitled “Kaya” in its entirety on its re-release date April 23, 2013, at Redstar Union in Cambridge MA. They shared the night with music journalist Steve Morse who wrote the liner notes for the re-release. Steve consulted Duppy Conquerors sax player Jeff Robinson as he prepared and researched and quoted Jeff in the liner notes. At the Redstar Union Steve spoke of his interviews of Bob Marley and the Duppy Conquerors performed the entire “Kaya” album and portions of the show were streamed live on BobMarley.com and the Boston Globe wrote a preview about the performance.

Collectively the Duppy Conquerors have performed or shared the stage with; The Wailers (reggae band), Ziggy Marley, The Skatalites Band, Jackie Mittoo, U-Roy, Black Uhuru Official, Mikey Dread, Sugar Minott, Sly & Robbie, Official Gregory Isaacs, Dennis Emmanuel Brown, Yellowman, Eek-a-Mouse, Steel Pulse, Toots and the Maytals, Roland Alphonso, Leroy «Horsemouth» Wallace, Lloyd Knibb, Laurel Aitken, Lord Tanamo, Gil Scott-Heron, Babatunde Olatunji, Richie Havens, and many more!

Named after Bob Marley’s hit song entitled “Duppy Conqueror.” The term means “Killer of Bad Spirits” and that they are! The Duppy Conquerors will Lively Up Yourself, Jammin’ Bob Marley’s music!

“The Duppy Conquerors are the best Bob Marley tribute I have ever heard!” – Shelley Neill, organizer of the legendary Amandla Festival that Bob Marley and the Wailer’s headlined

“Bob Marley was about Spirit. His music touched many souls. It’s great to see the Duppy Conquerors capture that spirit and make it live anew. They play his songs with a beautiful conviction and love.” Steve Morse, Boston Globe Correspondent

“The crowd, equally as diverse as the band itself, enjoyed the music, dancing until the early hours of the morning and letting go of themselves to the immortal melodies of Bob Marley. After the spot-on rendition of Bob Marley’ s (album) Exodus, the band played a mixed set including hits like “ Is this Love,” “ Could you be Loved,” and “ No Woman No Cry.” Mixed in with the hits, the band played rarities like “Hammer” an electrifying rendition of “Simmer Down” that brought the entire audience to their feet, and the classic first recording of Bob Marley’ s repertoire “One Cup of Coffee.”” – Jeremy F. van der Heiden, The Somerville New
