Please join Salem Stands with Puerto Rico at Flatbread – Salem for a benefit Tuesday evening, November 14th. Flatbread will donate a portion of proceeds from every pizza purchased (including take-out). In addition to good eats, music, and donations from proceeds, there will be a raffle for items donated by local businesses and artists – proceeds of which will be added support for people in Puerto Rico.
Salem Stands with Puerto Rico is a community–based effort to support the relief and recovery needs in Puerto Rico as a result of devastation by Hurricane Irma and Maria and the humanitarian disaster affecting 3.4 million US citizens. This crisis hits home for many reasons – genuine compassion for fellow human beings and fellow citizens, but also because they are family, friends, and family of friends. More than 1500 Salem residents are Puerto Rican. Our support is needed now and for the foreseeable future.
The goal of Salem Stands with Puerto Rico is to coordinate efforts and work together as we reach out to support our fellow citizens. Our efforts are particularly focused on people living in small towns and rural communities. Building upon an initial October 7th community drive, Salem Stands with Puerto Rico is organizing several fundraising events to help meet the ongoing humanitarian needs in Puerto Rico. Stay tuned for information of other upcoming fundraisers as well as a link to make online donations. Thank you!
