On October 17, 2012, the HCHC community was blessed by a visit of Hawaii’s myrrh-streaming Portaitissa icon of the Holy Theotokos. This icon is a copy of the original icon of the Portaitissa located at the Iveron Monastery, Mt. Athos, Greece. On the same day, five years later, our campus will once again be blessed to receive this wonderworking icon at the Holy Cross Chapel. Fortunately for our community and others, it frequently tours North America so that the faithful can venerate the icon and receive blessings and miracles through it. For more information regarding this icon and to learn about Hierodeacon Nectarios who cares for it, please go to: orthodoxhawaii.org.
On Tuesday, October 17, HCHC Community Day will begin with Orthros at 8:30 AM and the Divine Liturgy at 9:30 AM, celebrated by His Eminence, Metropolitan AMBROSIOS of Korea.
The myrrh-streaming icon will be brought to the Chapel at 9:30 AM, at approximately the time of the Great Doxology. At that time there will be a short procession of the icon from Dowd Hall to the Chapel. The myrrh-streaming Portaitissa icon of the Holy Theotokos will remain at the Chapel for the duration of the day (until 5:30 PM). Great Paraklesis is scheduled for 4:00 PM.
All are welcome to come and pray in the Holy Cross Chapel and receive a blessing from this miraculous icon of the Holy Theotokos.
