Jaws of Love. is a solo project from Kelcey Ayer of Local Natives, whose album Tasha Sits Close to the Piano is now available.

Kelcey Ayer, the creative force behind Jaws of Love., has always been an ace at writing a good love song—he just didn’t always know it. “I used to think that in order to write about love, something had to be wrong,” he says. “I often got my material from pain, or insecurity, or problems—I thought I couldn’t write a good love song because I am in love and it’s going so well. But I’ve grown to realize that even in the most amazing relationships there are turbulent times and misunderstandings that are unavoidable. And that doesn’t mean that anything is doomed, but love is such a complicated thing. The idea of ‘jaws of love’ felt so perfect for this project because it’s all about love’s trials and tribulations.”

Mark Nieto has tangled with the Los Angeles underground for the better part of the last decade, appearing regularly on local radio and fine-tuning an aesthetic that fits comfortably at the intersection of instrumental guitar music and experimental electronic structures to create COMBAT!

Ben Higginbotham is a recording artist, songwriter, producer, and multi-instrumentalist from Dallas, Texas. Currently in his final semester at Berklee College of Music, he lives in Boston, but splits his time between New York and Nashville cowriting and gigging. He has played venues such as The Bitter End in NYC, and The Bluebird Cafe in Nashville, as well as countless places in and around Boston. Ben is capable of writing in any style, the music he releases himself could be described as Alternative Folk. He is inspired by a wide range of artists, from Bon Iver and The Staves to Ben Folds and Randy Newman to Kurt Elling and Al Jarraeu. Ben hopes to one day have his music on the radio, in films, and in homes all around the world.
