Led by Greek-born composer and Berklee grad, orchestrator, singer, and accordionist Magda Giannikou (Kronos Quartet, Louie), Banda Magda moves from samba to French chanson, from Greek folk tunes to Colombian cumbia and Afro Peruvian lando. Drawing on the band’s global background (Greece, Argentina, Japan, Colombia, and the US), the group combines South American rhythms with jazz improvisation, cinematic arranging, sophisticated audience participation, mid-century classics, and world chansons sung in six languages.
The special event is part of the Elaine and Jerome Rosenfeld Concerts in the Courtyard at the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston. Tucked inside the Calderwood Courtyard, this season-long series showcases the hottest, most diverse acts from Boston and around the globe.
Courtyard seating is limited; low lawn chairs (3 feet or under when unfolded) and/or blankets are recommended. Tall chairs are not permitted. You may bring your own food and nonalcoholic beverages. All bags are subject to inspection by Museum staff.
For summer concerts, Bravo restaurant turns its patio into an exclusive lounge for MFA members and their guests. View the concerts and enjoy cocktails and light dining! Limited table seating is available on a first-come, first-served basis. For smaller parties, table sharing will be encouraged.
